Technological highlights include:

Reliability
The SeaUrchin operates with a single moving part, enhancing reliability in marine environments and minimising maintenance;

Power
The SeaUrchin is scalable from 1kW up to 10 MW, extending well beyond the natural limit of competing marine technologies;

Efficiency
The SeaUrchin is more powerful and efficient than competing marine technologies;

Strength The SeaUrchin is designed to withstand the huge physical and corrosive forces in marine environments;

Materials
The SeaUrchin is constructed from proven low cost materials and components commonly used by composite and electrical generator manufacturers making it particularly suitable for mass production;

Scalability
The inherent strength of the SeaUrchin allows production of very large turbines, potentially delivering up to 20MW of electricity (in tandem 10MW configuration);

Adaptability
The SeaUrchin is able to generate large amounts of power from tidal currents, ocean streams and rivers;

Flexibility
The generator is capable of transmitting electricity as DC, AC or HVDC;

Simplicity
The generator operates as direct drive eliminating the need for a gearbox and reducing maintenance;

Modularity
Arrays of SeaUrchins can be installed to create large power stations, improving commercial viability;

Controllability
Designed to incorporate sophisticated control systems allowing remote monitoring and maintenance from anywhere in the world.
